Kyle "kwob20" Bowler wins second WCOOP event

Last Night was the event number 14 of the World Championship of Online Poker with a $500 +30 buy in 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. All the big poker stars were there, getting ready for this event which is the last one before the big blow up of the WCOOP final weekend. It is a serious play for big money amongst poker celebrities such as Greg “Fossilman” Raymer, Humberto Brenes and Tom McEvoy.
There were a total of 581 players competing for the $290 500 prize pool. Interestingly enough, for some players it was the second time that they sat at the final table in this 2006 WCOOP; Evelyn, Kyle “kwob20” Bowker, Doidovarrido and TroppoBravo are doing well this year.

After a close fight against TroppoBravo kwob20 stole the win with a pair of Aces and took home $68 267.50. For the first time in the history of WCOOP, a player has won two events in one year.

Harrah Entertainment in Lawsuit

Harrah's Entertainment, the owner of the World Series of Poker, filed a lawsuit against a former Binion's Horseshoe employee, Federico Schiavio, over the usage of the acronym 'WSOP'.

Harrah acquired the World Series of Poker when it bought Binion’s Horseshoe back in 2004. From then on the WSOP has taken on the road to success, has broken the frontiers and has become one of the most sought after tournament on a world wide basis. Schiavio has been using the “WSOP.com” domain name for some of his WebPages. He is now planning on creating his own online poker site still using WSOP.

Harrah has filed a lawsuit because it says that Schiavio is using the name illegally, benefiting from it and is trying to enter into the world on online gaming this way.
This is a kind of problem which is seldom seen these days; in the early days of online gambling, anyone could easily buy a domain name and sell it to whomever paid enough for it.

For stress free, problem free online poker, in a world where anything can happen, best to stick to platinumpoker.com; endorsed by Doyle Brunson himself, platinumpoker.com, being the only one where you play against other players and offering low juice and high bonuses, is of sound reputation and a whole array of games unequalled anywhere online.

Online Poker Unstoppable

Online Gambling may be against the law in the US but this has not stopped its popularity to keep on growing and reach to the sky. It is slowly but surely getting at least as popular to play there, if not more, as playing in Las Vegas. According to some researches, more Online Poker games are played per day than in all the casinos of the entire world. Webmasters do know their trade and lure gamblers by giving them top class service and good quality web sites. The bonuses are much more attractive online than they are in real life casinos, and for the regulars, extra offers and bonus are constantly on offer.

Online Poker is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. There is no dress code, those who feel shy or intimidated have no worries, no one is going to get criticized or forced to stay in a game. It is possible to play for very little cash, and there are always new tournaments taking place.

It is no wonder then that so many players have joined platinumpoker.com, where the juice is even lower and the bonuses even higher. Platinumpoker.com is one of the only online poker site where you play against other payers, never against the house.

World Championship for Online Poker a real success

The World Championship for Online Poker has been a real success this year for the Poker Stars and Legends. To take this weekend as an example, there were not less than four tournaments held between Friday and Sunday. All tournaments were big payouts for the winners. We are talking about a $1000+$50 buy-in-no-limit prize pool event, and it was 2 ½ times bigger than the promised $1Million; this was the second biggest prize in the history of Poker Stars, something to remember.
This was also the first time that the World Championship held an H.O.R.S.E. event. There was a lot of enthusiasm for this event after Chip Reese won the bracelet together with the $1 716 000 prize. Poker Stars was not sure that the event would stir the interest of the players, as there is was only $100 000 prize pool guaranteed. What a big surprise then to see 1798 players turning up thus the prize pool was risen to $359 000! The biggest event of the weekend however drew in 2458 players which built the second largest prize ever seen on Poker stars. First place took home $442 440 and a 14 Karat Gold WCOOP bracelet.
Such events and victories really boost the popularity of online poker sites like platinumpoker.com, where players can enjoy playing in the comfort of their own home, make some money and easily join the various current online tournaments. 21 year old champion of the World Poker Borgata Tour

To win $1.5 million at the tender age of 21 must be so overwhelming. The World Poker Borgata Tour was won by such a young player, Mark Newhouse. It was not an easy task to win as he was playing against real pros and everyone wanted the title plus the $1.5 million, needless to say.

He made it to the final table together with David Sklansky, Chris Mc Cormack, Chris Bell, Blaise Ingoglia and Anthony Argila. Mc Cormack is the lucky skilled Second, and he took home a mere $800 000, which is not too bad after all.

Newhouse was offered a place for the World Poker Tour Championship worth $25 000 as well as his cheque. It would seem this young man has a future of fame and fortune ahead of him. Platinumpoker.com can give you the chance to enter such tournaments. Usually the process is easy, but you will need of course to qualify.

Platinumpoker.com offers world class action poker, and it is one of the only site where players always play against the opponents and not against the house. Platinumpoker.com is a member of the Doyle Brunson Poker Network.

Women take charge of winning World Poker Open

Pipa Flanders has won the World Poker Open, taking the largest prize ever won by a woman in Europe. Pippa, wife of poker player Tim, was one of only two women to take part in the tournament. She played under the watchful eye of her husband and her 22 year old daughter’s cuddly toy which she hid under the table. The cuddly toy, a little donkey, helped her to take home the title together with $200 000. She was unbeatable and literally slipped through the game leaving the opponents open mouthed and empty handed. They were no less than Tony G, Roland De Wolfe, Marc Goodwin, Tony Bloom, Kenna James, not just novices, but she beat them all and beat easily. “Go Girls” she exclaimed, cuddling Eemore the donkey.

Crazy Cypriot, not so crazy?

This past Sunday Sept 17th saw some action with online poker superstar Crazy Cypriot collecting chips and having fun playing poker. This was the second Online Poker Championship of its kind, a $500 limit No Hold’em. Crazy Cypriot, CardXfactor and Micon were amongst the last ones left late in the night, but Crazy Cypriot was the only one to make it to the final table. He seemed to be pretty cool about the whole event, but still got out of the final table with his hands full of chips. When asked what he thought about his prize later on, it seems he said something about having preferred a bracelet to the mere $120 000. He did not say which kind of bracelet he had in mind….
Online poker now offers these types of tournaments, and there is nowhere better to check these out than in platinumpoker.com, the non-stop action site offering high limit play. Platinumpoker.com has its own mini-tournament and players are chosen at random everyday to receive a surprise gift. Platinumpoker.com is an aggressive, competitive and action packed poker site, the best online poker site where to learn to play like a professional and thus be able to take part in international tournaments.

First it was poker... Getting to the root

As the American frontier pushed westward, card games went right along with it. With little in the way of escape from the hard realities of those days, the pioneers entertained themselves with card games in every town across the country.

Card games were played around campfires, in bunkhouses, in saloons and on riverboats. Descending from the Spanish card game "Primero" and influenced by the French "Poque", poker as we know it took hold around 1850 with the introduction of the 52-card deck.

During that time to be a gambler was to be a gunslinger. Notorious outlaws would shoot a man dead over a card game as easily as throwing back a shot of whiskey. It is said that numerous men were killed in disagreements about who'd won a pot.

It was poker’s rough and tumbles beginnings in the American West that gave rise to its reign today as the world's most popular card game. Considered the patriarch of modern poker and the person most responsible for its rise from smoky backrooms to the pop-culture spotlight was the leader of Texas Rounders Doyle Brunson.

Doyle in the words of The History Channel "cleaned Texas dry" playing high-stakes poker in the 1950s and '60s. Then, he eventually landed in Las Vegas where audiences would gather in awe to watch him lay. Today, at the ripe young age of 72, he continues to play at the elite level. In 2005, he won both his record 10th WSOP bracelet and hundreds of thousands more in tournament play.
